The Department of Regulation and Monitoring ensures that all mine action activities are conducted safely and efficiently.

Since 2006, the CMAA has been licensing and accrediting mine clearance operators based on a rigorous desk and field assessment. Six clearance operators, comprising five humanitarian organizations and one private company, are currently accredited to conduct clearance activities in Cambodia

The five humanitarian organizations are the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), the HALO Trust, the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), Cambodia Self-Help Demining (CSHD), and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (NPMEC). The private company is BACTEC.

The CMAA and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (NPMEC) are working closely on the accreditation for NPMEC, which had been granted by the end of 2009.
After operators receive accreditation, the CMAA's Quality Assurance teams monitor their field operations to ensure safe practices. The teams review the operators' Standard Operating Procedures and verify their compliance with the Cambodian Mine Action Standards (CMAS).

The CMAS were developed by the CMAA to cover all mine action activities in Cambodia. In addition to addressing clearance requirements and worksite safety, the CMAS are updated to cover new technologies as they are introduced, such as the Baseline Survey, Mine Detection Dogs, and Land Release.

The CMAA also participates in evaluations of new equipment and procedures being tested in Cambodia.
