Database Unit (DBU) PDF Print E-mail

The CMAA also manages the national contamination database. All licensed operators regularly submit their reports to the Database Unit (DBU) of the CMAA. Information tracked in the Database covers all phases of mine action, from historical conflict information to post-clearance land use. The Database unit employs the latest technologies, and is intending to deploy the newest version of the Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA).

The DBU has the following responsibilities in relation to reporting:

  1. Ensuring that all demining operators and other relevant stakeholders forward reports on time.
  2. Checking incoming reports for completeness and accuracy and ensuring there is no duplication of information. When reports are received that are incomplete or contain inaccuracies the matter is to be raised with the relevant organization and resolved before any information is distributed for use or entered into the CMAA database. The only exception to this is if the reports concern immediate dissemination of information is necessary.
  3. Analysis of reports for important information that may affect current or future operations.
  4. Dissemination of information based on written requests from the relevant organizations.
